It is my belief that a person is not an individual to be fixed, but rather someone to be understood. Through an integrative approach, I support teens by helping each individual to cultivate self-compassion, reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, and to feel connected to themselves, as well as the world around them. Each individual’s background is valued and we find it important to provide treatment that meets the specific needs and goals of each client.
In order to feel happy and to flourish, humans must feel connected—to others, as well as their own sense of self. Small group counseling is designed to be healing and supportive in nature. We weave in education, seeking to instill a better understanding of the complexities of being a human or teach healthier coping skills. Being part of a group is an excellent way for teens to learn new skills, develop self-confidence, feel more connected, and develop a better understanding of how to deal with the many difficulties life presents.
